IT Group classes are planned to restart in Autumn 2025 - probably through October. Currently this will depend on numbers and two options are ‘on the table’ - Wednesday mornings (10:00-11:30) and/or Saturdays (13:00-14:30). Fees will remain at £40 for a full five week course on either date.

Our first block (5 weeks) will focus on various word processing activities such as photo-album creation, accounts spreadsheets plus creative editing of phone/camera digital images.

If you are interested, do get in touch and also tell us your preference(s) for Autumn class days shown above.

Update: Which? Tech June / July 2025 issue has a recommendation for Ubuntu Linux as a replacement for Windows 10.

Clarborough & Welham IT Group have been providing computer-based tuition for more than 15 years and have been one of the biggest providers of computer tuition in the area. Based in Clarborough Village Hall (DN22 9LN), the Group provides sessions designed for absolute beginners through to more accomplished IT users. Prices are kept low to provide maximum access.

School Kids can often teach parents and grandparents a few things about computers. Like to repay them with advice of your own? Why not join our local IT Group’s classes?

Having personal experience of Ubuntu Linux, a real alternative to Microsoft’s offering, led to moves to upgrading our IT Group’s suite of laptops to Ubuntu Linux demonstrating how much Linux is a real alternative to Windows. To read much, much more about Linux read the Wikipedia article here...

Classes traditionally start with ‘Gardeners Question time’ during which class members set the priorities for lessons.

Our IT Group also seeks to provide back-to-work skills - see our Learning Resources page link above. Our latest move to Ubuntu Linux could also give you or your staff a wider experience across multiple apps. Get in touch if this seems interesting.

The following are left on our site for historical purposes!

Microsoft announced the end to all support for their Office 2010 suites from 13th October, 2020. Why not find out about the alternatives to Microsoft Office? We offer tuition in Apache OpenOffice and Document Foundation LibreOffice - and both are free, open-source, applications too - see Open Source at top of this page for more.

Microsoft’s pattern of ceasing support for earlier versions will continue with Windows 10 which they say will cease to get support on 14th October, 2025 in the light of recent releases of Windows 11.

Clarborough & Welham Newsletter (see current and back issues here) is produced by our IT Group using so-called open-source applications. In a practical sense this means they are free! If you’d like to get advice and guidance in producing professional publications why not enrole now?
