60 years of The Queen's reign
The Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 on the death of her father, George VI, and her coronation took place on 2nd June 1953. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977 and Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002.

The only other monarch to celebrate 60 years on the throne was Queen Victoria in 1897.

If you were in Clarborough for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 and have any photos of the events, have a look at our Local history Message Board page for Kathleen Garton’s appeal for help.
