Clarborough Water mains replacement scheme by Anglian Water

Anglian Water carried out improvements to the water network in Clarborough and Welham in order to reduce the number of bursts as the existing water pipes were coming to the end of their useful life.

This £1million scheme started in July 2017 and was completed by the end of December. It affected properties along Whinleys Road, Howbeck Lane, A620 Road and all of Welham.
(See plan below).

In order to minimise disruption, Anglian Water used no-dig techniques throughout the project, including Directional Drilling, Slip Lining and Pipebursting, which were less intrusive than the traditional open cut excavation method.

One section of the scheme at Little Gringley; required a road closure, lasting about one week. The diversion route for through traffic during this period was via Retford, which was clearly signposted when the road closure was in place.

Anglian Water wrote to local residents close to the start date with further details of this planned work. Anglian Water Project Engineer was Brian Sutton on 01522 341 475 or 07803 798 063 (Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00) or the Anglian Water customer contact team on 03457 145 145.
